Intel® Hybrid Cloud is an innovative new subscription-based model for providing locally hosted server software on a pay-as-you-go basis. Small businesses get all of the benefits of services in the cloud, with the responsiveness and consistency of local applications, plus the peace of mind of having their data on site.

Benefits for the small business
Cloud-like flexibility: Consume IT software on a monthly basis without getting locked in. Cost scales with number of users, offering a predictable, manageable way to pay for software. Customers can grow or reduce monthly software costs as business conditions and the number of users change.
Remotely manageable: With an MSP (Ockam) managing the server, the SMB can focus on their business rather than their IT.
Control of your data: With an on-premise server, small businesses can keep their data on-site and in their control.
Lower solutions cost: Multiple applications run on the same server.

How Intel® Hybrid Cloud works
Step-by-step process:
1. Ockam (MSP) has signed a contract with Intel® for monthly software usage.
2. Ockam orders Intel® Hybrid Cloud Server from Intel's fulfillment partner.
3. Server is shipped to Ockam.
4. Ockam places server on site at the customer and configures the system.
5. System automatically sends secure, encrypted monthly software usage data to Intel®. (Only the server is identified; no customer data other than software usage is reported).
6. Intel® provides monthly software usage report to Intel's fulfillment partner.
7. Intel's fulfillment partner bills Ockam for hardware and software usage monthly and provides copy of usage report for each server the MSP has deployed.
8. Ockam bills the end-user based on report from Intel's fulfillment partner.

Product details
The Intel® Hybrid Cloud is made of three key elements as below:
Intel® Hybrid Cloud Server manager1
This simplified software application enables remote monitoring and management configuration of the server. Each software appliance runs on a separate virtual machine, allowing individual management of each appliance and isolation for reconfiguration or troubleshooting.
Intel® Active Management Technology (Intel® AMT) enables remote rebooting of the entire system regardless of OS state.
Intel® Hybrid Cloud Catalog
With a quick and easy interface, choose only the software functions you need and pay on a monthly basis, based on the number of users, each month.
Multiple pre-configured appliances are available to simply turn on as needed with minimal setup, including Microsoft Windows* Small Business Server 2008 and Windows* Server 2008. Other options include:
- Firewall/Unified threat management (UTM)
- Remote management
- Back-up
- Disaster recovery
- VoIP-PBX
If you also require a particular Line-of-Business application, turn on a Windows Server 2008 appliance and load the application.
Intel® expects to expand the Intel® Hybrid Cloud Catalog over time, adding multiple choices in each category, as well as new categories of software.

Intel® Active Management
Technology 6.0 (AMT) |
1Intel® Active Management Technology requires the computer system to have an Intel® AMT-enabled chipset, network hardware and software, as well as connection with a power source and a corporate network connection. Setup requires configuration by the purchaser and may require scripting with the management console or further integration into existing security frameworks to enable certain functionality. It may also require modifications of implementation of new business processes. With regard to notebooks, Intel® AMT may not be available or certain capabilities may be limited over a host OS-based VPN or when connecting wirelessly, on battery power, sleeping, hibernating or powered off. |
